She’s Free!!!

As little girls we dream. I mean we dream BIG!!! House, car, husband, kids, and white picket fence with a nice yard was my dream. Then one day that picket fence disappeared, the house vanished, and reality set in.I did get the husband, but that was all a hot mess and the little girl in me was fighting to survive. This little girl by the name of Cyntoia Brown was tossed away in prison for life without the opportunity to get the help she needed. I’m sure she had BIG dreams as well. But her dreams vanished and she ended up caught up in sex trafficking at an early age. Too young to really understand. Too young to fight. Too young to make better decisions. Too afraid to walk away. She murdered a man for fear of her life and now she’s being set free😊 She too was a victim of circumstances. Her story is one that should be discussed because there are sooo many more Cyntoia’s out there, scared, alone, and fighting for the life. I’m glad that she gets another opportunity at freedom. I’m grateful that her journey will save other young girls who are lost, confused, and want a way out and feel alone.I know that feeling all too well. I know what it’s like to want that dream but your reality washes it away and you stop believing. For anyone reading this, know that Cyntoia’s release is necessary. Read her story and share it because there are young ladies right now, selling their body, crying in the darkness, and need to know that there is a way out.Congratulations #CyntoiaBrown on your second chance and opportunity to help another young girl find her way.

Through The Fire

Driving yesterday I was locked in to the interview on V103 which is one of #atlanta top radio stations. The host was interviewing two of the five men that were wrongfully convicted of raping a woman jogging in Central Park but was exonerated 13 years later after the real rapist confessed.

#TheExoneratedFive is what I will respectfully call them after listening to their interview, gave me another layer of hope. Hope to keep going and striving for greatness.

“How can I keep complaining inside me head and watching those complaints manifest? How can I keep sitting in the presence of opportunity only to allow depression to play games with me?” Flooded my mind after listening to them speak.

Those questions came rushing in and hearing Dr. Yuseef Salaam say, “walk through the fire” made me realize that if they can go through being falsely accused and fight everyday to walk through the hell of thoughts, I can too.

Their story wakes us up to the reality that there will be situations that will run up on you, catch you off guard, and take you away from your plans. Their story teaches us to walk through the fire with our heads held high, learning the lessons, but not losing our faith that there is something GREATER on the other side.

Now is not the time to allow your issues to overshadow your potential. Many of us will never have to experience a physical prison like theh did, however, everyday that you allow your issues to dominate your mind, you live in a mental prison. Free yourself by believing. Believing that your situation has already turned around for the positive. Believing that those things you dream about can become a reality. Believing that no matter what you’re facing in life, with patience and perseverance, it will happen.

YOU GOT THIS!!!
